Thailand’s Top Five Most Famous Diving Destinations

Thailand is one of the most famous and popular for diving and snorkeling. Thailand has not only some of the best beaches in the world and the ocean clear, even underwater as Thailand, because marine life is diverse. It is also possible to dive in Thailand and throughout the year, regardless of when you can visit Thailand is safe and fun place for diving and snorkeling for all levels of diversity. There are many places to go diving in Thailand, can be difficult to choose, but the first five places are among the most popular for the divers from around the world.

Phuket – Phuket is one of the most popular diving and snorkeling in Thailand. Sea, dive sites, both shallow and deep, tons of marine life (want to see a stingray, come here) and diving centers and diving shops, it’s easy to find someone take one for you. Phuket is a beautiful island in itself, with its fabulous beaches, hundreds of excellent restaurants (cheap and expensive), discos, bars, and coffee shops – something that every diver or a tourist could wish for.

The best dive sites in Phuket are Ter Bay, where you can dive on a wreck of the old, and Koh Dok Mai (Flower Island), where you’ll find limestone caves, rays, sharks, thousands of varieties of fish and more.

Koh Tao (also spelled Ko Tao) – The Turtle Island and is very popular among Thais, and the generation of backpackers. It is inexpensive both to come and stay here is very beautiful and the diving is excellent. The only problem is that Koh Tao is so popular, sometimes it can be frustrating, because there are so many people. If you go off season thought (before October or after April), you’ll come across less people, but still able to enjoy the beautiful underwater. Koh Tao is famous for manta rays and sharks.

Mergui Archipelago – A western friend, who lives in Thailand, and is an avid diver rave about Mergui Archipelago. It’s was only open for diving in the last ten years, is totally unspoilt and divers less competition boats and the ocean. He says he is not as spectacular as some of the other great dive sites in Thailand, but he loves it tends to see anybody when diving and there are some interesting underwater rock formations.

Krabi – A Thai woman in my office every month and dive swears that Krabi is the best place for diving in Thailand. She said that the currents are often somewhat weaker here (Phuket has very strong currents), the marine life is abundant and is an excellent place to see leopard sharks. She promotes Koh Lanta, because of the numerous caves for diving, but has too often lost in Koh Phi Phi. Koh Phi Phi is famous for its beauty, but also because it had been eliminated during the 2004 tsunami in Asia. The Thai government has made great efforts to rebuild and even now cannot even tell what really happened there.

Koh Chang – Elephant Island, Koh Chang is part of Koh Chang Marine National Park and is popular among Westerners, especially those who, like the low houses of yoga retreats and affordable place to detox, but it are also popular with divers. Diving and snorkeling at Koh Chang is great, because there is something for all levels of diversity, and barracuda, turtles, eels, and numerous other marine species. Koh Chang also has underwater caves and interesting rock formations.
